Great Fall weather at Goodwin for our Rotary Meeting today. Attendees were Rob, Marc, Bob, Jim, Ceil, George, Dan, Bill, Guy, Sue, Peter, Ray, Jack, Anwar and Neal. Two prospective members, Angelica Sharma and Shakira Acevedo, also attended today.

Pre-meeting discussion covered absence of Dan’s cat (who joined us last week) and various cat stories.

Rob rang the bell at 12 Noon and called the meeting to order. He also led the Pledge of Allegiance and Four Way Test. Guy gave the invocation.

Lunch from First & Last was an excellent spread of pizza and penne pasta. Also treated with homemade white chocolate and macadamia cookies made by Diana, Anwar’s wife.

Marc inducted Shakira and Angelica into our Rotary Club. Pictures were taken and Sue presented both with an informational packet and bell. Welcome!

Rob led the Trivia game. Sorry but I missed the winners. After winning the first pull of this week’s raffle, Peter explained the odds for winning but unfortunately picked the wrong card. Down to two cards for next week!

Angelica Sharma gave an inspiring presentation today about Tara Homes Foundation and their goal of providing safe, supportive and sober housing for individuals in recovery. The East Hartford house opened in February of 2025 and inaugurated the “She  Recovers” program which champions women with one mission and endless opportunities. Dan pledged $1,000 to the program in remembrance of Hope and Sue and Guy offered help.

Caring thoughts go out to Guy for his upcoming surgery.
