After a very social half hour, the meeting was started with the traditional song, pledge and invocation.  We had a good meal of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and salad with dessert passed around by Ned.  He offered seconds and thirds on the cookies

There are 34 tickets sold for the Yard Goats game and if you need more give Ned a call. He will gladly take your money.

A review of the social of April 27 was given. 26 people were there to enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, pizza and dessert.  What was to be a game night turned out to be a great social time. No games were played and by consensus we will try to do this more often.

Our speaker was Justin Wagner, East Hartford Fire Marshall.  Basically, he talked about a teaching tool that East Hartford Rotary donated 22 years ago.  It is called a Hazard House. This have proven to be a useful as a teaching tool in schools and retirement homes.

He explained how it is used to teach the dangers of smoke inhalation, electrical devices near tubs and sinks, chemical dangers in the house, and the importance of knowing escape routes in case of fire. This house is electronically controlled and shows all the previously mentioned items.  Unfortunately, the house needs repairs after 22 years of use.  Fire Marshall Wagner asked if Rotary would consider funding the repairs.  After fielding many questions, the meeting was adjourned at 1:30.
