Weather was sunny, breezy and cool for our Rotary Meeting on Goodwin’s campus.

Pre-meeting discussion led by Sue on the subject of High Gear and the how-to instructions which are now available.

Attendees were Bob, Marc, George, Ceil, Sue, Peter, Rob, Pat, Jack S., Anwar, John and Neal. Charles was on line. Charlie Shein, who is a prospective member, also attended. Guests today were Sandy Buettner and Marc Caruso, East Hartford Police Dept. Also joining us were Deimary Montea, Miss Puerto Rico, who is in the 7^th Grade at the Sports Medical Academy in Hartford; Shakira Acevedo; Jess Ramos and Brena Marie from CBM, a PR Agency in Bloomfield.

Bob rang the bell at 12:05 pm and called the meeting to order. He also led the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4 Way Test.

Jack gave the invocation.

Lunch today was pizza (hamburger and cheese), Anwar’s salad and various grinders.

Our speaker today was Marc Caruso, EHPD’s Chief Information Officer. Marc thanked the Rotary for our continued support. He is from East Hartford, a former teacher and works with kids in many functions and town activities. He is involved with the 5^th Grade Youth Leadership Program; Citizens Police Academy which teaches policing strategies, accident investigation, domestic violence issues, split second decision demos and much more; First Responder Youth Academy; Cadet Intern Program and the Clergy/Chaplain Program. They are about to start a Police Athletic League Program. He talked about EH’s social workers, new police policies, back and forth of laws and restrictions, and de-escalation training which all cops attend. EHPD currently has 126 officers and three dogs.

The meeting continued on the writing outline for High Gear and Charles announced a new temporary meeting room.
