The Ridge was aloud with much convivial conversation before the lunch bell rang.  Steve Jacoby gave us a succinct invocation, after which we headed for the “food line.”  Lunch consisted of a salad of mixed greens, breast of chicken with a tasty, but which this writer found unidentifiable, topping, mixed steamed vegetables—carrots, lima beans, cauliflower—risotto, followed by cookies for dessert.  The usual choice of beverages was available.

 

President Mary brought us to order again—she was delighted that we had forty-two members in attendance!  The number included one guest, Wes Willett, eldest son of Doug.   Our Welcome song was led by Jay Stewart and Herb Tischofer.  It is a good thing that we have Art Bradbury to give us a starting pitch!

 

Nick Cecere was our Sergeant-at-Arms for the day.  He had a lengthy report.  Herb Barall and his wife Reggie are doing a Poetry Class at Sunset Ridge School.  The kids will finish the week with a performance on Friday—although not mentioned, we might assume that there could be some dance steps included.  Bob Buettner paid for a lack of a pin.  Gil Wishart paid for an anniversary, and he and Jim Fallon paid because they planned to leave early. Jay Stewart reported that George was mentioned in a recent Church Bulletin.  Bob Wood paid because he was glad that Nick was doing his job collecting fines.  Dan Firestone paid for his birthday—74^th!  When he was born the doctor said he did not expect him to live beyond a few—ten or a dozen—years.  Way to go!  Herb Tischofer paid for an anniversary—thirty-four years.  Janice Freschlin paid to leave early, as did Yvette Roaming, who also had a birthday.  Ned Lynch paid because the Red Sox finally won a game!  The Klocks are leaving for Brazil to attend the International Convention, were late to the meeting and planned to leave early, so they paid generously.  Frank and Ceil Collins are also attending the convention.  Marc Glass had an anniversary—six years.  Kevin Kickery threw in a “happy” buck.  And Neal Cunningham was caught reading the Gazette at the lunch table.

Dan Larson needs a “get well” card or two—he had a flare up of his phlebitis.

 

President Mary thanked all who attended the Rock Cats baseball game.  Our President’s last Board Meeting is on schedule—she “retires” at the end of the month.  She gave us some financial figures—the Duck Race dollars are important!  Membership fees are due.  Marc’s installation will be June 24^th—6:00 p.m. at the Gallery in Glastonbury.  July 15^th will be the Sergeant-at-Arms picnic—5:00 at the ridge. Bring spouses and/or significant others.

 

The weekly raffle was won by Larry Frazier.
