We, in East Hartford, have all types of donors:
Paul Harris Fellows contributed $1,000 or honored at that level
Paul Harris Society - committed to $1,000 every year
Major Donors - $10,000+
Bequest Society - left $10,000+ in their will
Arch Klumph Society - highest tier of donor $250,000+
She shared info that there are currently 4 cases of Wild Polio Virus identified. She is happy and available to help us and thanks us for everything we do.
Anwar introduced and welcomed a speaker that joined us on Zoom today - Alan Anderson. Alan is a Rotarian in Minnesota. He is a life-long supporter of the climate. He was an executive at Boy Scouts of America and is on the Rotary Climate Action Team. Alan has been giving presentations on climate change since 2012. He focuses on Rotary's 7th Focus Area - Protecting the Environment. There has been a significant increase in CO2. This is making the planet hotter. Sea levels are rising and impacting many coastal cities with flooding and decrease in property values in low lying residential areas. There is some good news: Countries around the world have acknowledged the problem. Solar and wind energy sources are growing at 10x the pace of fossil fuel sources. As of 2015, more people are employed in solar than in coal.
Meeting next week (none in the afternoon). The meeting will be held on Wed, 5/15 at 6pm at Wethersfield Country Club for Paul Harris Awards and installation for Charlie Schein membership.
