Noon: Marc Glass rang the official club bell. President Rob, attending via Zoom, enjoying some warm weather in Florida, led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four-way Test. Sue Klock provided the invocation, reading “WHO IS A ROTARIAN”, basically someone serving without concern for knowing exactly who will benefit from his or her service.
We’re keeping things fun and delicious with a classic menu:
- Cheeseburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings: lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and chili. (from Augie & Ray’s)
- A side of crispy French fries to complete the meal!
- And, a delicious salad thanks to Diana Hossain.
After lunch, Rob was able to do Trivia at a distance. This week, his focus was on all things Hartford including a famous author who lived in Hartford – Dan Firestone was first to say Samuel Clemens. Other questions proved more challenging, but we all enjoyed the challenge.
Anwar introduced our speaker. Ironically, it was Madhava Dasa, who endeavored to enlighten us on changing our unhealthy eating habits. I won’t attempt a summary. If you would like a free copy of his book, “Eat Your Way to Health” just email him, mdasa1@gmail.com.
Caring Moments
- Marc told us that Bev Saunders has been admitted to St. Francis, but as of the meeting was waiting bed availability.
- Anwar told us his sister was enduring the same problem at Hartford Hospital.
Treasurer George Schoen reminded everyone that semi-annual dues may be paid NOW using Venmo or mailing a check to him.
Marc rang the bell to end the meeting at 1:11 PM.
