Paul Harris Fellow Recognition Event
Honoring Lori Glass, Frank Leone & Rob Rosa
6 PM The evening began with a happy hour, which indeed became more happy and noisier as more folks arrived to celebrate this annual event.
6:45 Marc Glass (emcee) asked for quiet and invited President Rob to the podium to officially get this evening underway. Rob led us in the pledge and the Four-Way Test, then Peter Klock offered an invocation, adapted from one Anwar had shared with him.
Big thanks are owed to Ceil Collins and Guy LaBella for all their efforts finding the location for tonight’s ceremony – Cotton Hollow Kitchen in South Glastonbury – and ensuring everything went well during the evening. Also, a huge thanks to Peggy Shane for creating the program booklet.
Our section of the restaurant was filled to overflowing; so, it’s impossible to mention all the guests. Peter and I enjoyed sharing a table with two other Paul Harris Fellows, Pat Gately and Chickie Amberg. It was fun to have a chance to catch up with them about their lives while we all enjoyed dinner.
Before dinner was served, we had an opportunity to welcome our newest club member, Tiffany Robinson, who attended this event with her boyfriend, Jimmy Sullivan. PDG Marc read the official installation message, then invited PDG Sue to come up and present Tiffany with a variety of our club’s new member “stuff” including a Bevin Bell, a kit with a new member certificate and a badge.
We know Tiffany cannot attend most of our midday club meetings, so it was wonderful to have her join us for this annual celebration.
After dinner the special recognition ceremony occurred with Marc Glass introducing Lori Glass, since Jim Watts was unable to attend this evening, Dan Larson introducing Frank Leone, and Guy LaBella introducing Rob Rosa. Peggy did a great job including information about all three honorees, and it was special to hear both the introductions and the honorees’ words.
