Meatloaf and carrots
Today, yours truly arrived late. Besides paying a fine, I need to apologize for the tardiness. As a result of my late arrival, I can only assume that President Bill must have rung the opening bell, the Rotarians must have sung the Rotary Song and spoken the Pledge-of-Allegiance.

Jack Sayre did his good deed for the day by providing me a synopsis of his invocation you all must have heard so I am not going to repeat it.

After paying for my lunch to the Empress inside the meeting room, because she had closed shop in the lobby for the reason I have already described, I headed out to see what was being served for lunch.

Judging from what I could see on plates with people, or is it people with plates, going back to their seats, our caterer had served mashed potatoes, carrots, meatloaf, buns and salad. Chocolate Mousse and layered peanut butter cake wedges were served in the meeting room.

Diane Willett was our only guest today, and was serenaded with the Welcome Song by none other than her first born son, Wes, and table mate, Jim Fallon.

Dan Firestone, wearing the official red arm band, delivered the Sergeant-at-Arms Report. Bill Saunders paid for Marc Glass who was happy about the Eagles winning. Ned Lynch paid for the upcoming Red Sox win. Steve Jacoby paid for his overdue anniversary fines from 2015 and 2016. Lionel Lessard paid for “1 Future and 3 TBD” (That is best I could decipher from Dan’s hand written notes), yours truly for being late.

Diane won the Raffle with her winning ticket # 501.

Meghan Culmo On UConn Women's BB
Our guest speaker, Meghan Culmo, was introduced by Doug Willett. In 1987, this 18-year old from Pennsylvania was recruited by none other than Geno Auriemma, was a team member of the first Big East Championship and a coach on the first National Championship team in 1995. She scored 1,000 points during her playing career, which ended in 1991-92.  She then worked as a bartender and landscaper prior to landing a job at CPTV and many years later, moved on to a position as the color commentator at SNY for UConn games. .  Ms. Culmo also works for the UConn Foundation as its Major Gifts Director.   The mother of three children, now living in West Hartford, gave us an inside, down to earth view of what the Women’s Basketball program was and what it is now.
