Noon: President Rob rang the official club bell, then led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance and Rotary’s Four-Way Test.
Peter Klock’s invocation was one he borrowed from Anwar which encouraged us to be helpful, compassionate and inclusive.
Rob introduced Sharon Gagnon, Key Bank, who specializes advising clients about managing debt and obtaining mortgages when buying a home. She spoke for about five minutes explaining some of the issues challenging home buyers in today’s economy.
Then, Rob invited Sharon to lead the parade to today’s lunch buffet. In addition to a penne dish with chicken, there were three types of pizza (broccoli rabe, hamburg and plain cheese), as well as a garden salad.
When the meeting resumed, Rob entertained everyone with a May-themed trivia contest, focused on this weekend’s Kentucky Derby.
During the meeting, Rob reminded us that donations of $500 would be given to support swim lessons at Glenbrook Swim Club as well as the Miss Latina Folklore contest. Before the meeting ended, three representatives for that event joined us and spoke briefly about its significance for participants and the community.
Ray Maselek reiterated the need for all club members to support the Golf Tournament, our major fundraiser this year.
Caring Moments: Jack Sayre’s wife, Jan, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Marc told us that his wife, Lori, has a torn meniscus, which hopefully will respond well to physical therapy.
The meeting ended with an exciting result to today’s raffle, because the winnings are now up to $585. George Schoen drew a spade, but it was the 7.
Meeting ended ar 1:05. Good job, Rob!!
