Wethersfield Country Club
6:45 President Rob led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, then invited Sue Klock to do an invocation.
Sue reminded us of the passing of Ruthie Sheehan, wife of DG Jim Sheehan, and longtime member of our club. Ruthie was at heart and soul, a Rotarian, more involved than most.
We shared a moment of silence, then Sue read Ruthie’s favorite prayer before the invocation.
The prayer reads: “From here on earth, from my small place, I ask of You way out in space: Please tell all men in every land | what You and I both understand. Please tell all men that peace is good. That's all that need be understood | in every world in Your great sky. We understand. Both You and I.”
Then Sue offered an invocation, using thoughts she received from Peggy & George Schoen in a holiday card sent a year ago. The gist is that, despite all the challenges and diversity we face each day, we should focus on the wonderful people helping others, caring about those around us, and understanding how special it is to co-inhabitant this amazing world.
Of course, it was special to all be together. We enjoyed a dinner with meal choices (beef filet, chicken parmesan, or salmon), after which Rob spoke briefly about the great opportunity to al be together at this time. The Jim Watts came forward to announce this year’s Paul Harris Recognition recipients: Lori Glass, Frank Leone, and Rob Rosa. Hoping to have a celebration to honor all three in March.
The only updates are that we will not be meeting the next two weeks, due to holiday dates.
Next club meeting will be at Goodwin’s Pent Rd. building on January 8th. First, a Board Meeting at 10:45 AM, followed by the regular club meeting.
Just must add, we have some real troopers in our club who helped me accomplish the Dictionary & Thesaurus Project this year. All done this week! Thanks to Dan Larson, Rob Rosa, Ceil Collins, Guy LaBella and Peter Klock, one thousand plus books were delivered this week.
