Meeting held at Goodwin University in Room 109, 3 Pent Road
Noon – President Rob rang the bell, then led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four-way Test.
Anwar inspired us with an invocation urging tolerance as well as the usual triad Rotary encourages, friendships, purpose and service.
In addition to those in the room, we had Alex Wisz and Michelle Texidor-Pham join us on Zoom. Michelle is the Family and Community Partnership Coordinator for East Hartford Public Schools, a corporate member of our club. Most recently she helped coordinate our delivering the dictionaries and thesauruses our club donated to all third and fifth graders in the schools.
Rob entertained us with a trivia challenge focused on New Year’s trivia.
Rob invited everyone to enjoy a special lunch – chicken francaise, cheese ravioli, a wonderful Diana Hossain salad, plus a selection of Hershey chocolates for dessert. When those in the room sat with their lunches, Rob invited Michelle to describe her role as Family and Community Partnership Coordinator. Hopefully, she will be able to join us in person to talk more about that.
Due to problems connecting with the scheduled speaker, Madhava Dasa, his presentation has been postponed to Wednesday, January 15th.
Following up on the Board meeting held just prior to this club meeting, Rob asked Jack Sayre to update us on the success of this year’s Salvation Army Bell Ringing at Cabela’s. Despite each Saturday’s effort having been reduced by one hour, Jack reported that our members managed to raise over $500 each of the three days. We applaud Jack for his continuing efforts coordinating this worthy effort. Rob also asked Jim Watts to mention the plan for this year’s Paul Harris Recognition Event. Ray Maselek has offered to check with Goodwin to see if we can hold this in the Community Room at Goodwin, and if so, if Maneely’s can cater the event. We hope this can occur in April, stay tuned for the final location, date, and time.
Rob mentioned that he will be spending a few weeks in Florida but intends to lead the club meetings via Zoom. We hope to have a trivia challenge at each meeting.
Raffle was held. The pot continues to grow!
See you Wednesday, January 15th.
If you cannot attend in person please join us on Zoom.
