After lunch we reconvened and Bill called for the introduction of guests - Bob Dugger from Glastonbury, Bridgitte Jacoby, Steve's granddaughter, and Diane Willett, Doug's favorite Rotary-Ann, according to son Wes! The Welcome Song, started by Art Bradbury and George Schoen, sounded almost good this time!
Next on the agenda, Sgt. at Arms Ned Lynch, bragging about a huge take - $200 plus or minus, or as Pres. Bill extrapolated almost $10,000 per year. He's really putting the pressure on!!!
Among Ned's prey were birthdays for Danny Larson -67, Doug Willett - 73, and Alex Wisz. A nice "Happy Birthday" for Danny was sung, and a solo by Danny for Doug was rendered. Nuf said!
A couple of wedding anniversaries were also noted -Dan Larson at 45, and Dan and Hope Firestone at 53. Fines for a variety of transgressions were extorted - pictures, disrespect, Red Sox trades, lateness, early leaving, UConn, and just being alive!
Among those who fell into one of those catagories were Marc Glass, Bob Wood, Neal Cunningham, Frank Collins, Jack Martin, Mary Martin, Nate Quesnel, Susan Hansen, Steve Jacoby (for not being late!), George Agnelli, Dave Amberg, and John O'Connor. A suggestion for the Sgt. at Arms - set up a per capita charge at the door.
Under Caring Moments - Herb Barall is back in the Hospital - cards only, and Mo Moshovos is somewhat better and is traveling to Michigan for the Holidays.
President Bill acknowledged thank yous from the Police Chief, and Nate Quesnel for the donation of the life saving vests. He also noted the great PR on TV, The Courant, and from Bill Doak at the Gazette.
Christmas cards were received from Tracey Liner at Account's Plus, and from Brian Liss. Bill also thanked Ceil Collins and Bob Buettner for their work on a great holiday party.
The Raffle was won by Lowell Waldo, and Dan Russell announced he collected $39 from the holiday raffle prize. He also announced that Wes Willett will be taking over the Secretary's job so Susan Hansen can start her preparation for her presidency.
We are trying to ressurect an old tradition of a Rotary group spending a couple of days at the Old Tavern at Grafton, Vermont. It would probably be late January or early February. If you would like to hear more about this call Bob Wood 860 430-2161
